Random Doctor Who Facts You Might Not Know, Part 51
The Eighth Doctor can play multiple instruments, one of which is the violin. (Novel: The Year of the Intelligent Tigers)
The Master tried to use Kamelion's remaining connection to the TARDIS to prevent the Fifth Doctor’s regeneration. (Audio: Winter)
A version of the Sixth Doctor and Evelyn got imprisoned in 1903. The parallel Sixth lost Evelyn, his mind, both of his legs, and after a century, his life. (Audio: Jubilee)
The TARDIS has a Hostile Owner Destruction System, which will destroy the TARDIS and anyone inside of it. (Audio: Island of the Fendahl)
Nyssa is still able to point out where Traken is in the sky from Earth. (Audio: Autumn) The light from its destruction must not have reached Earth yet, so she can see it while there but never return.
Fegax was a student at the Prydonian Academy who tried to use a time drill to protest against the elite, but his time drill did not work. The Fifth Doctor - who was Lord President at the time - fixed it for him and returned it, and Fegax used it to flood the whole Academy. (Audio: Time in Office)
Types of regeneration include the Blur, the Disciplinary, the Explosion (subtype: the Slow Explosion, the Reverse Explosion), the Morph, the Swirl, the White Light, and the Memory Vortex. (Novel: How to be a Time Lord)
The Eighth Doctor was taken over by the Fendahl once. While taken over, Lucie said he glowed. (Audio: Island of the Fendahl)
Anya Kingdom, who traveled with the Tenth Doctor and posed as Ann Kelso in the 1970s for a while, is the niece of Sara Kingdom. (Audio: The House of Kingdom)
The Eighth Doctor has been known to occasionally sing while piloting the TARDIS. (Audio: The Dalek Trap)
As mentioned in other parts, the Forge was an intelligence agency that often experimented with enhanced or alien life. While many of them were obsessed with Lazarus - the project about the Doctor - one Forge member was much more interested in Project: Wildthyme, which was about Iris Wildthyme. She decided to end it by giving them her blood, which damaged their Oracle system and destroyed one of their bases. (Short story: Project: Wildthyme)
In the Psychodrome, memories and nightmares were brought back to life. The twisted way Nyssa perceived the Doctor at first blended with her thoughts on the Master melded the two together to create King Magus. (Audio: Psychodrome)
Galah attended the Academy with the Doctor, but they were never close to each other due to differences in opinion. She was a sculptor, but one day, she landed her TARDIS on an asteroid and created a dreamscape by hooking herself up to her TARDIS's protyon unit. (Novel: Strange England)
Temporal energy smells like roses to time sensitives. (Short story: Ring Theory)
There was a moment in The Waters of Amsterdam (which takes place immediately after Arc of Infinity) where the Fifth Doctor seemingly left Nyssa and Tegan behind, but he rematerialized seconds later. While it was only seconds for Nyssa and Tegan, the Doctor did: Omega, The Burning Prince, Time Crash, The Gates of Hell, Fallen Angels, Empire of the Racnoss (in which he took on a new companion we never learn what happened to), The Lady of the Lake, A Requiem for the Doctor, My Dinner with Andrew, The Furies, Relative Time, and Collision Course. Considering we don't know what happened to Alayna, his new Gallifreyan companion, this is an incredibly incomplete list of his adventures during this time before he went back for Nyssa and Tegan. Talk about a side quest, Doc!

Sapphic Books Reccs
Here is my list of recommended sapphic books! There’s a lot of YA here since that’s a lot of what I read. Everything on this list I have personally read and can recommend. I’m sure there’s a TON out there I haven’t read or ones I have read and have just forgotten!
Contemporary
Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail by Ashley Herring Blake (Adult)
My favorite of Blake’s! Enemies to lovers. SO good.
Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake (Adult)
A woman falls for her step-sister’s best friend. Oh, and there’s a kiddo in the mix as well.
The Falling in Love Montage by Ciara Smyth (YA)
Two girls promise a summer of fun full of rom-com worthy dates. The only rule, no relationships. Just one summer, nothing more. Sure....
Forget Me Not by Alyson Derrick (YA)
Amnesia fic where a girl forgets she ever met her secret girlfriend in their ultra-conservative town.
Hani and Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating by Adiba Jaigirdar (YA)
Fake dating between the girl who wants to validate her bisexuality to her friends and the girl who doesn’t mind the popularity boost.
Her Name in the Sky by Kelly Quindlen (YA)
Best friends to lovers! A big piece of this is also the friend group involved.
Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli (YA)
Imogen thinks she’s just an Ally. Spoiler alert: she’s not. I loved the way friendship was explored in this. You see some really solid friendships as well as a subtly toxic one (that’s acknowledged as such).
Late to the Party by Kelly Quindlen (YA)
An ode to late bloomers and a journey to self-acceptance. A girl goes to her first party, befriends a gay guy who introduces her to new group of friends and one really cute girl
Margo Zimmerman Gets the Girl by Brianna Shrum and Sara Waxelbaum (YA)
Super fun involving a girl asking another girl fo “Queer 101″ lessons. Bi and Autistic rep too!
Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales (YA)
A girl gives anonymous love advice and gets hired by a hot guy to help him get his ex back. Really FANTASTIC bi rep!
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston (Adult)
A sexy time-bendy romance with so much heart
She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen (YA)
My FAVORITE rom-com. I reread it constantly. Fake dating, enemies-to-lovers between the cheer captain and basketball star!!
She Gets the Girl by Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick (YA)
Two girl team up to get their crushes to fall for them and start developing feelings for each other along the way.
Six Times We Almost Kissed by Tess Sharpe (YA)
Childhood frenemies forced to move in together for their best friend moms’ sake. Trauma filled and SO SO good.
Some Girls Do by Jennifer Dugan (YA)
A fun rom-com between an out queer athlete and the local beauty pageant queen.
We Are Okay by Nina LaCour (YA)
One of my favorite books of all time. A story about grief and friendship and love. A soft, quiet story.
Who I Was With Her by Nita Tyndall (YA)
A girl’s secret girlfriend dies and she is left to grieve alone until she finds herself turning to her girlfriend’s ex.
Science Fiction/Fantasy
Crier’s War by Nina Varela (YA)
A romance that leads to revolution by between two girls: one human, one Made
The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow (Adult)
This is historical and fantasy! Suffragette witches! Another one of those books I wish I could read again for the first time. Three sisters, one of them has a WLW romance
Thriller/Horror
Hide by Kiersten White (Adult)
A high-stakes hide and seek competition in an abandoned amusement park. One of my all-over favorite books of 2022.
House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland (YA)
No wlw romance in this one, but the main character and her sister are both wlw. My absolute favorite book of 2021. What I would pay to read this for the first time again.
The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe (YA)
The daughter of a con artist is finally allowed to stop running and faking her identity, only to get stuck in a bank heist with her ex-boyfriend and current girlfriend.
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand (YA)
Three girls who shouldn’t have a reason to team up together against an ancient evil. The new girl, the pariah, and the queen bee who’s been helping the evil all along. I have reread this book easy a dozen times.
Throwaway Girls by Andrea Contos (YA)
When a girl goes searching for her missing best friend, she finds a trail of other missing girls and battles with heartbreak after her girlfriend leaves her for California.
Wilder Girls by Rory Power (YA)
Quarantined at her girl’s school after a gruseome Tox breaks out, a girl must find what happened to her best friend who’s gone missing
Historical
Great or Nothing by Joy McCullough, Caroline Tung Richmond, Tess Sharpe, and Jessica Spotswood (YA)
The queer Little Women retelling we all deserve with a SAPPHIC JO! Set in 1942. Beth’s POV still haunts my heart
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray (YA)
Two of the major supporting characters are WLW. This becomes more important and on the page in the later books in this series, but this is the first one.
Music from Another World by Robin Talley (YA)
1970s California. Two girls become penpals and bond over music.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Adult)
Hollywood icon Evelyn Hugo famously had seven husbands. This is the story of her wife.

okay new system (anyone can be eliminated in the group stage), new regulars, new groups for the regulars. There will be one elimination in each of these groups, a further 8 slots will be filled by nominations on a tournament be tournament basis, the structure of the nominee groups and the eliminations per group could potentially be very different to those of the regulars and will be highly dependant on the number of nominations.
Here is the new list of regulars, dashes indicate where the groups change. As always, constructive criticism is welcome.

hey hey hey I saw your post!!! any good fic recs for white collar? :) anything is appreciated, I'm not picky!!!
thank you!!
Sure thing, White Collar fic recs coming right up! I have more in the folder if you want more/different, but here’s a mixed selection. I also have more similar fics but the list is already quite long enough, and some of these have sequels.
Always A Surprise: Neal/Sara, 1.7k, explicit, dom/sub, femdom. Neal is good little sub for Sara, but also wants Peter to fuck him—she knows and encourages his fantasies.
It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Peter & Neal, Peter/Elizabeth, Elizabeth & Mozzie, 3.8k, general, post-canon, reunions. Neal gets back from Paris and meets baby Neal at Christmas, also feat Diana and Theo.
Perspective: Peter/Neal/El, can be read as friendship, 5.2k, mature, kidnapping, hurt/comfort. Neal gets kidnapped and develops ptsd related to restraints ie his anklet, but Peter and El are doing everything they can to make him feel safe again.
Once Upon Another Time: Neal/Sara, Neal & Mozzie, 25k, mature, mpreg (not mpreg from Sara). Neal is a government breeder with no choice in the matter, and Sara is looking for her art thief at the same as the FBI—Sara finds Neal before Peter does.
The Last Con: Neal/Sara, 33k, teen and up, post-canon. Neal gets to live his life after canon, moving to London to be with Sara and work as an insurance investigator, but then he doesn’t anymore.
L’art pour l’art: Neal/Gordon Taylor, 834 words, general, fluff. The soulmates being fluffy in Paris.
Blown Up: Neal/David Siegel, 5k, explicit, character death, grief, suicidal thoughts. Very angsty sad fic with briefly happy Neal because Neal never gets to be happy.
The Island: Neal/David, 5k, explicit, character death, emotional hurt/comfort. Neal gets to fall in love, but it’s in secret, and he can’t be okay when he has to pretend it never happened.
Built on sand: Neal & Diana, 4.3k, teen and up, undercover as a couple, MLM WLW solidarity. Neal saves Diana from having to flirt with a guy on a mission, and Diana doesn’t realise how okay with it Neal is.
The Way You Make Me Feel: Neal/OMC, 6.3k, teen and up, bisexual Neal. Neal was in a nude painting for an ex boyfriend, then said painting ends up in FBI’s white collar division.
This Isn’t Where I’d Choose to Be (But Maybe it’s Where I Should Be): Neal/Peter, Neal/Matthew Keller, 666 words, general, AU canon divergence, not canon compliant. Peter, Neal and Keller get stuck in an elevator, prompting discussion and reenactment of the last time Neal and Keller were stuck in an elevator.
Our Secret to Keep: Neal/Peter, 2.6k, mature, semi-public sex, exhibitionism. Neal is underneath Peter’s desk with a gift, the gift is himself.
Audio Drama: Neal/OMC, Neal/Peter, Peter/Elizabeth (mentioned), 2k, mature, exhibitionism, professional ethics re consent. Diana, Peter and Jones have to sit in the van listening to Neal get a blowjob and then Peter confronts him about it and it ends about as you’d expect.
Fox Among Hounds: Neal/Peter, 11k, teen and up, pre-relationship, escorts, protective Peter. Neal pretends to be an escort for an undercover mission, and when it starts to go pear shaped I guess Peter was the only possible person to get him out of it.
A Gentleman’s Guide to Suits, Ties and (White) Collars: Neal/Peter, Mike Ross/Harvey Spector, Donna Paulson/Clinton Jones, 29k, teen and up, matchmaking, first kiss. Mike is on a mission to make Peter and Neal realise that they love each other via the most crazy crossover dinner party.
The New Boss: gen, crossover with Chuck, 14k, general, Neal Caffrey and Bryce Larkin are the same person. Hughes still gets pushed out as ASAC but maybe the CIA replacement isn’t who they were expecting.
Never Recognised A Purer Face: Blaine Anderson/Sebastian Smythe, Cooper Anderson & Blaine Anderson, 3.3k, teen and up, Cooper Anderson and Neal Caffrey are the same person, Seblaine high school sweethearts. Cooper Anderson faked his death, but now he has to protect his little brother from said brother’s criminal boyfriend.

Showdown 2k25 - Submit Propaganda
Just like last year I want to kick January off with a flat popularity contest, showdown 2k25. (<- I wrote that in December before my laptop packed up, it'll now be after whenever I manage to get my laptop fixed)
Automatically competing - everyone from last year (list), with the following exceptions
Last years winner - Donna Noble
Rose Tyler as the 2023 winner, not going to start reintroducing winners at least until a non RTD companion wins, and I reckon that'll be next year, I think Martha is going to take this one
The TARDIS. I get it, it goes against my every instinct to exclude her, and while she didn't win the popularity contest I did include her in, it just doesn't feel fair, she transcends compaiondom.
Rules for new nominees (tardis wiki list referenced below)
Anyone on the list will automatically be accepted
TV companions MUST be on the list
EU companions not on the list will be considered on a case by case basis. If they meet a reasonable definition of companion I will accept them, basic guideline is has their own tardis wiki article so I can actually check, multiple stories with the Doctor, none of these guidelines are hard rules, if you can justify them to me (and I can follow the argument), I'll let them in
Propaganda is not carrying over from last year, if you want to go to bat for someone, use this same form - (There isn't a lot at the moment so more would be appreciated, you can check the list under the cut for who hasn't got any if you want, but multiple sets for one character is also good)
You can use this form to make multiple nominations/give multiple bits of propaganda at once.
Nominations will likely close at the end of February/beginning of Marhc, I'll give a definitive date once I have access to my laptop again.
list of (165) competitors, anyone in green has propaganda submitted for them (39) - this list is likely not up to date as it's difficult to keep on top of without access to my laptop

Foreigner guitarist Bruce Watson was having a better hair day, finished his crisp white shirt with a black jacket (I’d intended to do in kind with mine, but I was rushing and couldn’t get my cuffs through my sleeves), and surrounded himself with cool guitars and warm lights. Rockstar! I dig the cut of his jib. Almost as much as I appreciate how accessible, down-to-earth, humble, and lovely he is. Not a likely combination, but oh, so charming. And entertaining! What a great storyteller!
Bruce took us through his extraordinary ancestry. The Watsons have been Valley Boys since the 1600s. Not! But they have been in America since then, in LA since the 1890s or so… likewise, his mother’s people, from Cork. Great story there - how and why they got here.
We got the skinny on where the passion started - The Monkees - Hey Micky - and Creedance- the dream - to be a rockstar - his first band, Eragon, that no one, including me, could say correctly, covering The Eagles and Zeppelin - hysterical day jobs, great stories there, his first big gig touring with Toto’s Bobby Kimball, then Patty Smyth with Rod Stewart, then Rod hisself. Bruce, although not a “reader,” was getting lots of session work for film, TV, and commercials, one of which was producing a spot with B.B. King- what a poignant, moving story. Recording with a very young Christina Aguilera, her break out, What a Girl Wants, and just out of the box, Sara Bareilles’ Love Song, through Bennett Salvay meeting composer W.G.  Snuffy Walden, and giving them just what they needed for their Friday Night Lights, getting the call to fill in for an ill Mick Jones - a temp gig - Bruce was busy, enjoying session work, his home and his family, with no intention of touring - then getting extended… again and again… finally joining Mick and becoming a permanent member of Foreigner. The Rockstar young Bruce dreamt of being realized in full force and boy does he wear it well. A killer player, he’s got the hair, the moves, and the clothes, and I got him to tell us where he shops. I wanna hit the stores with him. It’s all about how he puts it together.
Bruce Watson is all that… and a jumbo bag of Cheetos. Talent, looks, genuine sweetness, and fun. Rockers, please take note… you can reach the pinnacle, look amazing doing it, and still be a mensch. Be like Bruce!

‘Supernatural,’ 'The Flash,’ ‘Buffy’ Stars Among Celebrity Guests At Fan Expo Portland, Jan. 24-26
Tumblr media
Fans of some of pop culture’s most beloved franchises are preparing for FAN EXPO Portland as Jared Padalecki (Supernatural), Grant Gustin (The Flash), James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Alan Tudyk (Firefly) and legendary director Eli Roth (Thanksgiving, Cabin Fever) are among the first wave of celebrities attending the annual extravaganza, January 24-26, 2025, at Oregon Convention Center.
The sci-fi drama Resident Alien (Alice Wetterlund and Sara Tomko) and teen romance High School Musical (Corbin Bleu and Lucas Grabeel) are also well-represented in the lineup with stars of those programs slated to attend.
FAN EXPO Portland features the biggest and best in pop culture: movies, TV, music, artists, writers, exhibitors, and cosplay, with three full days of themed programming to satisfy every fandom.
Jared Padalecki starred in the series Supernatural as the protagonist “Sam Winchester” for its full 15-season run from 2005-2020. Gilmore Girls fans will also remember him from his early-seasons role as “Dean Forester.” Padalecki is currently the lead role of “Cordell Walker” in the CW contemporary western Walker.
Grant Gustin played the title character “Barry Allen” in The Flash CW television series for the duration of its run from 2014 through last year, as well as in Arrow, DC Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman and others. He first gained wide notice for his portrayals of “Campbell Price” in the revival of 90210 and “Sebastian Smythe” in Glee.
Millions of fans worldwide first got to know James Marsters as "Spike" in the hits Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. With film roles in Dragon Ball and P.S. I Love You, guest TV appearances on Smallville, Without a Trace, Warehouse 13, a recurring role on Witches of East End and many others, the multi-talented Marsters is also a singer-songwriter who has performed sold-out concerts on three continents.
Alan Tudyk gained fans’ attention when he starred as wise-cracking "Hoban 'Wash' Washburne" in Firefly and Serenity. He later grabbed the Star Wars fandom with his portrayal of “K-2SO” in Rogue One. He currently stars as “Harry Vanderspeigle” in Resident Alien and also appeared in A Knight’s Tale and I, Robot. Tudyk has also lent his voice to characters in hits like American Dad, Harley Quinn, Transformers: Earthspeak and Star vs. the Forces of Evil.
The multi-talented Eli Roth has gained fame as a director, writer, producer and actor. He wrote and directed hit films such as Thanksgiving, Cabin Fever, Hostel, and Hostel II and starred in Inglourious Basterds as “Sgt. Donny Donowitz.” Roth has produced more than 40 TV and film productions and is also the director and writer of this year’s feature film Borderlands starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Adult, Youth and Child Single-Day Tickets, Three-Day Passes, Family passes, and Ultimate and VIP Packages for FAN EXPO Portland are available now at www.fanexpoportland.com. Advance pricing is available until January 9. More guest news will be released in the following weeks, including line-up reveals for additional headline celebrities, comic creator guests, voice actors and cosplayers.
Portland is the second event on the 2025 FAN EXPO HQ calendar; the full schedule is available at fanexpohq.com/home/events/.
